Cancer treatment often comes with challenges beyond medical care. Traveling long distances or managing unexpected expenses can create additional stress for patients and families. Reynolds Cancer Support House helps connect patients with resources that make accessing care easier.
Gas Card Assistance
Patients receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy may qualify for transportation assistance.-Available for patients who are not Fort Smith residents traveling into Fort Smith for treatment
-Available for Fort Smith residents traveling outside the area for treatment
-Gas cards are provided during the week of scheduled treatment
-Patients may pick up their gas card any day during their treatment week
Community Transportation Resources
Reynolds Cancer Support House partners with the Area Agency on Aging to help connect patients with additional transportation resources. Transportation services may be available for individuals in: Crawford | Franklin | Johnson | Pope | Sebastian | Logan | Yell | Scott | Perry | Conway | Polk Counties Our team can help identify available transportation options and connect them with the appropriate resources.
Housing Support
For patients who must travel long distances for cancer treatment, finding a place to stay can become an additional challenge. RCSH partners with Cavanaugh United Methodist Church through their House of Hope program to help connect eligible patients with temporary lodging options during treatment.House of Hope is designed to assist patients who are traveling a significant distance for care, particularly those who need to receive treatment on a daily basis and may benefit from staying closer to their treatment location.
Patients interested in learning more about this resource must complete an application and screening process. Availability is based on eligibility requirements and current space within the home.
